Blackberry to add virtual assistant to its mobile operating system
BlackBerry will roll out a voice-activated virtual assistant with the BlackBerry 10.3 devices, which will go on sale in the autumn.
The software responds to a device owner's spoken commands allowing for hands-free usage of features such as text messaging, Internet browsing and emails.
The BlackBerry 10.3 devices include the Passport smartphone with its 4.5-inch screen and QWERTY keyboard.
Apple, Google and Microsoft already offer a voice-activated virtual assistant on mobile operating systems.
The software, known as 'BlackBerry Assistant', will offer similar functionality to Siri (iPhone), Google Now (Android) and Cortana (Windows Phone 8.1).
