Apple has launched its iPhone7 device in San Francisco, with the brand matching a number of features from rivals Huawei and Samsung. The brand also ditched the earphone jack as had been widely anticipated prior to the event.
For the first time the new phone will be water and dust resistant, matching it to the latest flagship devices from Samsung. Rivals Huawei will also have noticed the dual camera feature similar to the one its P9 device premiered earlier this year.
Introducing the popular smartphone series CEO Tim Cook described the phone as the ‘industry gold standard’ and as a ‘cultural phenomenon’, adding the fact that the manufacturer had now sold over a billion of devices. He explained that the brand felt the appeal of the phone was due to ‘tightly integrating hardware software and services.’
In design terms legendary British design boss Johnathan Ive preached classic Apple principles such as how the ‘obsession remains to continue to simplify and improve.’ He described the phone as the most singular and evolved representation of the design.
The manufacturer also confirmed that its upgrade programme would be coming to the UK.
New Apple watch
Apple presented the next generation of its wearable the Apple Watch. Describing the product as having been ‘completely re-engineered’ the standout feature for the new watch was the fact it is ‘swim proof’ thanks to a speaker which ejects water. Priced at $369 Apple Watch Series 2 will also be accompanied by a special Nike version of the Apple Watch built to target the fitness market even more wholesomely.
As well as presenting the new product Apple launched a new watch OS, The brand also boasted that it was now the second largest watch seller behind Rolex and that it was the bestselling smartwatch manufacturer.
